In 1968 - 1971 I attended Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and studied painting and drawing with Samuel Breecher who was critical important to my development as an artist. He was a gifted teacher and artist who literally taught me to see and draw. While at Newark School. I also studied with the painter Pat Steir.
In 1971 -1972 I studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and one of the teachers I studied painting with was Robert Mangold who encouraged me to pursue a direction in painting that played with the edge of real and abstract art.
From 1972 - 1976 I worked in the Orange Public Library as a display artist and continued painting and showing locally. This was an interesting and visually exciting experience that allowed me to invent full installation pieces in large closed cases. I had a one person show at the Orange Library during this time.
During the years 1977 - 1980 I attended Art Students League studying both Fine Arts and textile design. In 1980 I received the Red Dot award.
Between 1980 and 1991 I was drawing and painting large scale figures and exhibited at Upsala College in East Orange NJ. I also attended Montclair State University, Montclair NJ for Fine Arts from 1989 - 1993.
I exhibited with Exhibitors Coop from 2000 to 2012.
I am a member of and exhibited with The Book Arts Roundtable from 2005 - 2014.
I am also a member and exhibited with the Contemporary Artists Forum.
